Ariane, Chrissy and I spent a week in northern England and Scotland in March 2002. We drove almost 2000 miles in eight days, on a madcap mission to see Hadrian's Wall, Glen Coe, Ben Nevis, have a wee dram of whisky in a distillery, tour the Isle of Skye, search for the Loch Ness Monster, take tea in Inverness, relax in Stirling and go ghost-hunting in Edinburgh, taking in a few castles, bridges and curries on the way.
