5-18 April 2001

In spring 2001 I set off for two weeks travelling in Spain. I didn't speak the language and had never set foot in the country. I had some goals - to see the Alhambra in Granada, watch FC Barcelona at the Nou Camp stadium and enjoy everything in between.

April 5 - 10 Madrid, Toledo and Segovia
April 11 - 14 Granada
April 14 - 18 Barcelona

Jazz at Cafe Central in Madrid

Experiencing a bullfight
Seeing baby emus in Las Ramblas
Two weeks of warm, sunny weather and NO rain

Lowlights (definitely in a particular order)
Missing the football in Barcelona - the game was moved forward 1 day
Being stuck on a train outside Valencia for 4 hours...while the football was on
Fearing the worst when the left luggage locker in Chamartin station Madrid wouldn't give me my backpack
Returning home to the rain
